Renee Benot hails from Long Island, New York and was inspired by the vocal sounds of Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dionne Warwick. She began to hone her vocal skills and developed a smooth sound that is reminiscent of these great vocalist; in addition to her favorites that include Anita Baker,Rachelle Ferrell, Angela Bofill and the late Phyllis Hyman. She made her singing debut in the Restaurant Row Theater District at "Don't Tell Mama" in NYC. There she began to develop her skills as an extraordinary performer and songstress. She studied Music and Drama at the prestigious Herbert Berghof Studio and studied with world renowned Broadway vocal coach Therman Bailey and most recently, with Grammy award winning songwriter, Gordon Chambers. She has also toured with the original lead singer of the famed Shirelles, Shirley Alston-Reeves in "The Shirley Alston Revue" and worked with several members of Kool and the Gang. "From the first three seconds she opens her mouth, you know you are going to hear something very exciting and yet comfortably familiar. She has a sophisticated presence and sultry sound, that immediately catches your attention and transfers your emotional spirit into high gear." Since the beginning, Renee Benot continues to develop her songwriting skills which gives you a bird's eye view of life's journey and challenges. Her lyrics offers her audience an intimate look at her struggle to balance life, love and her passion for this unpredictable business of music, which has become her quest. She states: "I'm a dreamer...I still believe in true love...Life is an adventure, if you treat it like one, you'll never be disappointed." And an adventure it has been for this new adult contemporary recording artist.
Ms. Benot has gone on to perform at clubs in New York such as, Jimmy's Uptown Cafe, Soul Cafe, Sweetwaters, Nu Urban Cafe, Retro Lounge, and most recently at Nick Ashford & Valerie Simpson's Sugar Bar, NYC Hilton Hotel and Allegria Hotel. Ms. Benot admires the contemporary styles of Mary J. Blige, Chrisette Michelle. Her much anticipated CD debut entitled "On & On" has already created a new found excitement with her smooth jazz audience.
